Overview
The retreat at Everland has been in operation since 1999 as a special-needs camp for homeless and at-risk children. Officially known as Scottie’s Place (www.scottiesplace.org), the camp has served hundreds of youth from West Virginia to Washington D.C. and beyond, providing year-round academic and adventure-based programs to children in need. This property has an exceptional level of infrastructure yet has preserved the natural beauty of its wilderness setting. It offers excellent opportunities as a private estate, retreat center, or recreational camp.

A rare parcel of lush, flat land in the low lying interior with a productive year-round spring is an ideal site for a camp and pond, and is the location of the old Nanny Lambert homestead.

Large pond (220’x120’x12’deep) built in 2003 to USDA specifications is crystal clean, spring-fed and provides swimming, fishing and canoeing fun for all size groups.
Smaller pond is spring-fed, clear and cool at 14’ deep. Both ponds are filled with bluegill and bass.
Pavilion at woods edge is 24’x36’ with built-in seating for 40; shaded, well ventilated and a short walk to all sites. Constructed by Bonner Scholars from Concord University in 2003, it has an operational wood cook stove and access to potable water.
Unique 24’ diameter round barn with ½ acre fenced paddock provides shelter for a myriad of animals.
Century-old chestnut hewn, 800 sq ft log barn with new metal roof and renovated second floor offers an inspired activity space. Covered porches on three sides built by Kiwanas Club and Circle K provide an additional 800 sq ft of outdoor living space.
Amish-built elevated, 200 sq ft lean-to gives a tree house-like experience, perfect for solitude, bird watching, and extended overnights.
Fire circle with seating for 30 is centrally located between log barn and lean-to, providing unimpeded views of the planets and stars and a wonderful setting for gatherings. Water hydrant in close proximity.
Play house/puppet theater adjacent to log barn provides endless hours of enjoyment for young ones.
Multiple out-buildings provide storage and work space.
12’x12’ chicken coop with ½ acre fenced yard accommodates up to 24 chickens for an endless supply of organic, free-range eggs.
70’x150’ parking pad sculpted into the hillside accommodates a fleet of vehicles.
Gated cemetery with stone walls is built on southern knoll overlooking original home site.
Virginia/West Virginia state line runs through streambed on property, and to the New River, with 34 acres in VA and the remainder in WV.
